Twitch BEST Lag Fix Tutorial: Livestreamer & VLC

This lag fix has helped me out a lot so thought i’d share the joy! Worked especially well with me being in europe watching US streams so hopefully will help vica versa.

Livestreamer: https://github.com/chrippa/livestreamer/releases
VLC Media Player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

.bat file contents

@echo
cd c:program files (x86)livestreamer
livestreamer.exe -url twitch.tv/STREAMNAMEHERE best
@echo off

Save as a .bat file in all files.

    for any one has 400 error ,it is twitch thing here is a fix

    Step 1. Type livestreamer –twitch-oauth-authenticate. Chrome will open and ask you to login to twitch. It will give you a "page does not exist" error.(making a new bat)
    Step 2. Check the url. It has a section that says access_token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Copy this string.
    Step 3. Continue watching livestreamer as usual. However, when opening a stream, it should read
    livestreamer –twitch-oauth-token xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx twitch.tv/channel best

    profit. Ref https://github.com/chrippa/livestreamer/issues/1456 @dhelfrich

    The Parameters of Livestreamer changed

    "unrecognized arguments: -url"

    to fix that i replaced

    livestreamer.exe -url twitch.tv/STREAMNAMEHERE best

    with

    livestreamer.exe http://www.twitch.tv/STREAMNAMEHERE best

    then it worked for me.

    I have Windows 10 too

    You just have to type "livestreamer twitch.tv/STREAMERNAME best" in notepad and save it as a .bat…

    This does work, although you do not need to make a .BAT file. You just run LiveStreamer, and copy the stream page link, click inside LiveStreamer and it will auto-paste it. Sometimes the CMD PROMPT doesn't always load it. Just try a few times and then VNC will eventually be opened and it will play the channel.

    I know about this method for a long time but.. When you are finished installing livestreamer there is a tick for configuration file, like "Edit configuration file" at the end of installation.. You want to edit that. In that end of that configuration file there are some things like threshold or something like that which are low like 1.. You need to set them on 10 both. 🙂

    # Number of threads to use when streaming HLS streams
    #hls-segment-threads=10

    # Number of threads to use when streaming HDS streams
    #hds-segment-threads=10

    You can also use this method with Run from Start like me, just type:
    livestreamer.exe LINK quality (which I always use source)
    The only thing that I don't know is how to watch already recorded streams. This same method works livestreamer.exe LINK quality, and VLC opens, BUT you can't rewind or forward the video, which makes it kinda useless..
    Hope I've been helpful.

    If you're giving this as a "BEST" lag fix you wouldn't use VLC but rather MPC-HC since it uses less recourses of the computer 🙂 so that would be slightly better than VLC as "lag fix".

    just open start -> run -> type "cmd" -> type "livestreamer twitch.tv/StreamerName best" or high/medium/low and vlc will open so you can watch and enjoy after you're done just close vlc and keep the cmd window open just delete best and the streamer name type a new one + quality and done with the arrow up/down key you can switch so you don't need to type the stream you watched from before again – i find this faster and easier because i watch so many streamers so making all this "livestreamer links" would take forever

    by the way it's enough if you just type "livestreamer twitch.tv/StreamerName best" (without the") in the text document and safe it as .bat you don't need those @echo, cd:… stuff
